DEFRA officials have confirmed they will be reporting their decision on the Inquiry regarding who is liable to pay for the clean-up of the contaminated land within the Stonegate estate.
A letter will be going out this week to affected residents informing them that a decision will be reached by the end of March.
Considering all the delays that residents have endured on this issue over many years, you’ll forgive me for being sceptical!
What the letter from the Department actually says is that the officials will be reporting their findings to the Minister by the end of March.
Let’s hope the Minister doesn’t then sit on that information for any length of time, otherwise residents will have been misled by the letter from Walsall Council.
I won’t be holding my breath!
