Planning Committee grants applications to develope on two ‘eyesore’ sites in Short Heath

by danielbarker on 12 June, 2015

Last night planning applications referring to the Meadow House and Former Cavalcade Pub sites off Stroud Avenue in Short Heath were considered and granted by the Planning Committee.

This means that two more eyesore sites in Short Heath (once developed) will disappear.

The Meadow House site will have a Nursing Home similar in use to that of the Former Meadow House which currently stands derelict.

The Willenhall Liberal Democrat Focus Team has campaigned to address the issues of overlooking and parking which were concerns of residents. A Planning Officer pointed out that the former Meadow House site will have more car parking spaces than the recommended minimum for similar developments. We hope that this means there won’t be an increase in on-street parking, but will keep an eye on this situation when demolition works begin.

A resident attended the meeting and expressed concerns that houses to be built on the Meadow House site would impact on his family’s privacy. It was disappointing that none of the councillors who spoke addressed these concerns.
