One Walsall; the voice of the voluntary sector in Walsall supporting local not-for-profit organisations such as community groups, charities and social enterprises; has been commissioned by the council to develop a new volunteer recognition scheme across the borough.

Value You (www.valueyou.org) helps recognise the contributions of those who dedicate their time volunteering in their community.

The initiative works in partnership with local independent businesses who sign up to offer discounts and gifts to volunteers. Membership is free of charge, and the scheme also helps to encourage people to shop locally and support small businesses. Following a successful start, One Walsall have recruited over 40 local businesses and will be publicly launching the scheme later this month with the aim of encouraging volunteers to sign up.

The reason for this post is to help One Walsall to spread the word amongst our local businesses and traders, who may wish to engage in the scheme and give back to their local community.
