Vote Leave fined & reported to police for breaking electoral law – Metro Report

by danielbarker on 18 July, 2018

Vote Leave has been fined £61,000 and senior figures referred to the police for breaking electoral law.

The Official Brexit campaign at the 2016 referendum failed to declare £680,000 it gave to youth Brexit group BeLeave, which was spent with data firm Aggregate IQ, the Electoral Commission said. This spending took Vote Leave – backed by Boris Johnson and Michael Gove – over its £7million legal limit by almost £500,000. BeLeave founder Darren Grimes was fined £20,000 and referred to the Met along with Vote Leave official David Halsall.
