Walsall Holiday Activity and Food (HAF)

Are you interested a becoming a Walsall Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) provider for Summer?

National research tells us that;

  • School holidays can be pressure points for some families because of increased costs and reduced incomes.
  • Some children are more likely to experience ‘unhealthy holidays’ in terms of nutrition and physical health and
  • Some children from lower-income families are less likely to access fun activities

That is why we were excited about the expansion of the tried and tested Holiday Activities and Food programme across all local authorities. This programme is aiming to provide healthy food and enriching activities during the holidays to children who receive benefits-related free school meals (14,000 children in Walsall). It offers valuable support to families on lower incomes, giving them the opportunity to access rewarding and active activities alongside healthy meals during the school holidays.

We delivered our first successful programme during Easter where we worked with 20 providers to deliver a combination of healthy recipe boxes, interactive online programme and face- to-face holiday club engaging with 1866 children (13% of eligible children).  We want to build on the learning from our Easter programme and build on to our strong partnership working with a range of providers to upscale the provision and make it a programme that is attractive and meet the needs of all eligible children and young people.

We are holding Walsall Holiday Activity Programme information session information session for providers on the 5th May 2021 at 10:00 am, to book your place book via;  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/walsall-holiday-and-activity-programme-summer-tickets-148002209593
