by danielbarker on 16 November, 2020

Please find below information about the Walsall Hate Crime Support Service which is a multiagency project working across the Walsall Borough.

  • This pilot project intends to offer peer to peer support that will be delivered to support victims of hate crime.
  • They are currently recruiting a team of volunteers who they will train to support clients.
  • There is an opportunity for local residents to become part of this Team. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please feel free to share the information here with them.

What specifically is a Hate crime?

A crime that the victim or any other person perceives to be motivated by hostility or prejudice towards any aspect of a person’s identity. Police forces in England, Wales and Northern Ireland annually monitor five strands of Hate Crime: Disability, Gender Identity, Race, Ethnicity or Nationality, Religion, Faith or Belief or Sexual Orientation.

The Walsall Hate Crime Support Service will support people affected by any form of Hate Crime – if an individual or family are targeted because of any aspect of their identity they will support them.

If you have come across anyone that may want to have the opportunity to speak to one of their trained Support Service Volunteers then please feel free to get in touch via the email address below.
