As you may know Walsall Council installed a temporary domehawk CCTV camera in Oaken Drive, for approx. 3 months, to assist in tackling anti-social behaviour.
As you may also know the Willenhall Neighbourhood Police Team regularly patrol the area, at different time and days of the week.
In addition WMBC Officers have been in the area to identify any local problems. To report issues directly to Walsall Council please use https://go.walsall.gov.uk/report
A request has been made by a resident to myself for the re-installation of a domehawk camera.
Unfortunately we are not in a position to reinstall a camera, at this particular time.
There are alternatives, including StreetWatch which can be explored with the Willenhall Neighbourhood Police Team & Sgt Lander.
Street Watch
StreetWatch is a community led initiative.
StreetWatch groups are made up of volunteers who are at least 18 years old. They carry out street patrols, but have no police powers.
The groups are managed by a coordinator, who is part of the group. Their job includes:
Groups patrol in a minimum group of two and register them on a forum.
The local policing team also look at the forum before the patrols take place, to know where the group is going.
If the group sees suspicious activity, they should report it to the policing team, but not get involved.
If you want to find out more about StreetWatch please contact Sgt Lander j.lander@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk
Once again I hope this suggestion is helpful and please contact Sgt Lander for further information regarding StreetWatch.
