Letter from Highways England re: M6 junction 10 improvement scheme

by danielbarker on 22 June, 2020

We’re continuing with our improvement work at M6 junction 10. Once complete, this work will improve journeys for the thousands of people who use this daily.

During July, we’ll be starting work on the foundations for the two new bridges. We’ll be making some alterations to the traffic signals on the roundabout at junction 10. We’re installing the traffic signals temporarily into blocks so we can move them more easily to resurface the junction.

We’re also starting work on the retaining walls of the four slip roads on junction 10.

We’ll start work to add an additional lane westbound on the Black Country Route.

Please note that from 13 July 2020, we’ll close the footpath that runs across the junction. We need to close this so we can widen the A454, Wolverhampton Rd West safely. The alternative route will be through Bloxwich lane, Churchill Road and Queen Elizabeth Avenue, a route that we’ve recently improved.

As with all Highways England construction sites, we will continue to operate safely and adhere to social distancing measures as we carry out this work.

Who will do this work?

John Sisk and Son Ltd will carry out this work on our behalf.

How will this affect you?

We’ll need to use some noisy machines and equipment to carry out this work. I would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption you may experience during this work. We’ll make every effort to carefully manage noise levels to minimise the impact of our work.

Thank you for your patience while we carry out this work. Please be assured that we’ll work hard to complete this work as quickly as possible, keeping disruption to a minimum.

How will it affect traffic?

The work will take place on Monday to Friday mostly during the day, but there will be occasions when we need to work overnight from 8pm to 6am.

We will need to put some road closures in place to carry out this work, these are detailed in the table below.

Please note that the precise dates and times of the work may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Where possible, we’ll keep you updated of significant changes.
