So some people are backing Boris, saying his comments weren’t racist? Is this the way politics is going? Politicians ridiculing whole groups of people within society for the way they dress and then being patted on the back because they are ‘not afraid to speak their mind’?

Clearly this is a political tactic and Boris thinks he can be the British Trump.

But where does this stop? Boris described his views as liberal, which means he doesn’t understand the word. Liberalism is about personal freedoms, including the freedom to dress how you want to. Yes, it also means freedom of speech, but rights come with responsibility, and Boris, by making fun of a particular minority group has abused his rights and behaved irresponsibly.

Such behaviour may work for politicians in the USA, maybe help to get them elected; I for one hope and pray that such behaviour will never be acceptable in the UK. A country where law-abiding citizens are openly ridiculed by political leaders because of what they choose to wear sounds like Hell to me!
