Apology not helpful – what we need is action!

by danielbarker on 8 January, 2018

It can’t have escaped anyone’s attention that the NHS is struggling this winter. But what we need from our Prime Minister is not an apology but action!

Maybe I’m old fashioned, but as far as I’m concerned you only apologise where you have done something wrong. So if this Conservative Government is admitting it has done things wrong by the NHS e.g. not investing the money required to enable it to cope with winters such as this – then the correct thing to do (rather than just issuing a meaningless apology) is to act now to save people’s lives!

In a recent interview with the Prime Minister, Andrew Marr said he would have died if he had waited 5 hours for treatment like a recent case that came to light. The sad fact is, people probably have died and will die this winter because they are not being seen by medical staff quickly enough.

And to add insult to injury, the rumour mill at Westminster is suggesting that the Secretary of State for Health is going to be offered a promotion. The fact that the Tories think it’s ok to even consider rewarding someone who must share some of the blame for not stopping this healthcare disaster shows how completely out of touch they are with public opinion.
