Introducing One Walsall

Welcome to the new support organisation for voluntary and community organisations in Walsall.

One Walsall is a new, independent and member-led organisation set up to support voluntary and community organisations operating within Walsall.

Whether you’re a community group run by volunteers or a larger registered charity we’re here to support you through advice, information and representation.

One Walsall is a registered Charity supported by funding from local partners to help grow the role of the voluntary sector in Walsall and help the voluntary sector demonstrate the impact it has in supporting communities.

You can read more about us on our website, get to know our staff and trustees, find out more about the services we offer and the benefits of becoming a member.

Working as a member of the team, the post holder will be responsible for delivering one-to-one and group support, facilitating a local VCS forum and supporting the development of community projects within a define area of the borough.

The role is fixed term until September 2019 with the potential to extend based on performance and future funding arrangements.

Job share arrangements may be considered – please indicate on your application if this is something you would wish us to consider.

DEADLINE
Register your interest in running a community building

Interested in taking over a community asset?

The closing date for registering an interest in the local authorities’ Community Asset Transfer Programme around taking over the running of various current library premises is tomorrow 11th April 2017.

Nine library buildings are part of this programme, including: New Invention, Pheasey, Rushall, Pelsall, Pleck, Walsall Wood, Beechdale, South Walsall.

The opportunity is to run the building, not a library service, so you might be interested in the use of these assets for any purpose you feel will help to serve your community.

Visit Walsall Council’s In-Tend Portal to register your interest (new users will need to register an account).

Support for interested organisations

One Walsall are available to support to any not-for-profit organisation interested in this opportunity. We can provide advice to help you identify the feasibility of the opportunity for your organisation, and practical support in all areas of the process including; the Asset Transfer process, budgeting and accessing funding, business planning, working in partnership, and recruiting and managing volunteers.
We can also help organisations access specialist advice through our partner organisations including solicitors and asset transfer experts.

Even if you feel your organisation may not have the capacity to run a building alone, we urge you to register your interest and be involved in the process. Working in partnership with Walsall Council, One Walsall will help to facilitate partnership projects, which brings together a range of organisations with an interest in running a community building.
