Now that the dust has settled…..

by danielbarker on 27 June, 2016

….a lot of people are asking themselves, what have we done?

It seems a lot of people voted leave without thinking through the consequences. A number of people for instance wanted to register a protest against the Government or the establishment. Their was a kind of anti-London feeling being expressed by many voters in the regions of England and Wales; the feeling that the benefits of being in the EU had been enjoyed more by people in London, Scotland and Northern Ireland than elsewhere in the UK.

Over 3.3 million people have called for a second referendum. Do these people have a point? Ok, I agree with Boris on one thing, it isn’t best of three, but was the referendum truly democratic? 16 to 18 year olds were not included even though they were in the recent Scottish referendum. Given that 75 per cent of young people voted to remain, the inclusion of 16 – 18 year olds could have produced a different result.

I for one think we should consult them on this issue. After all, they are going to have to live with the consequences a lot longer than many of the pensioners who voted to leave.
