Brexit at breakfast

by danielbarker on 24 June, 2016

The pound in freefall, the markets having their worst night for 31 years, talk of another referendum for Scotland to leave the UK and Northern Ireland to join the Republic (which will upset the Unionists!)…..not a bad night’s work for the brexiteers who’s chief lieutenant Farage has already admitted one of their main campaign statements (regarding the amount of money the UK could reclaim from the EU) was a lie.

This was my fear from the beginning. In a level playing field situation, referendums are good, a chance for people to vote according to the pros and cons of all issues raised. But Britain does not have a level playing field; it has a press that is owned almost entirely by euro-sceptics, and they have used that press to good effect, spreading lies and misinformation for years until most people cannot tell fact from fiction.

David Cameron gave the people a weapon and the people chose to hurt themselves.

Who knows what will happen next………..
