Incoherent ‘Vote Leave’ Campaign

by danielbarker on 27 April, 2016

The incoherence of the Vote Leave campaign must be exposed. Don’t let their assertions go unchallenged. They have been banging on recently about negotiating a better deal with the EU than we have with the Single Market. This is nonsense. On the one hand they say we can leave and still have the same access to the Single Market, but at the same time restrict immigration from the EU. This is not the case. Freedom of Movement is an intrinsic part of the Single market agreements and Norway and Switzerland had to sign up to it. What is more astounding is that they think that freedom of movement will still continue for Brits who live in the rest of the EU, but can be rescinded for other EU national who live here.

Another incoherence in their campaign has been exposed by the Tata steel crisis. Brexiteers on the one hand say that we could protect our industry from Chinese competition if we got rid of EU trade rules, yet they argue at the same time that we could have full free trade with China and others to replace our EU markets. They are going to have a trade war with China and free trade with China at the same time!

Let me know of any other inconsistencies in their campaign you come across and I will publish it here.
