Work has begun on stripping out what is left of the interior of Meadow House ahead of full demolition.

There is still no fixed date for a start on construction of a new residential home plus six semi detached houses on the former Meadow House residential home site in Stroud Avenue, Short Heath for which planning permission was granted last year.

There was much controversy when, following the sale of the site by Walsall Council back in 2011, a planning application was submitted for a secure mental health unit in 2012.

This application was eventually withdrawn, the site was sold on to new owners leading to the current permission for a new three story residential home and some much needed semi detached family homes.

The plans are a far cry from the original application for a secure unit. The new residential home will resemble the kind of use of the old Meadow House which is good news for local residents.
