Fire Brigade called out to suspicious series of rubbish fires

The Fire Brigade have been called out twice in as many days to fires in alleyways.

Yesterday five youths were seen running away from an alleyway in Hawthorne Road in the direction of Pooles Lane as a fire took hold in a pile of rubbish.

This morning’s incident was in the alleyway between Stretton Road and Fairlawn Way. The circumstances were very similar as the Hawthorne Road incidents.

Since these two incidents came to light reports are coming in of other smaller fires being being started mainly in the Hawthorne Road area. The Police have been informed and are following lines of enquiry.

It has to be said that if people didn’t fly tip or drop litter then whoever is responsible for these fire raising incidents would find it more difficult to endure there potentially dangerous fanticies.

The moral of all this is – Take your litter home with you and dispose of your rubbish sensibly.
